About ALANYC

Leading the Way with Diversity Initiatives...

One of ALA's goals is to increase diversity in the Association, in the legal management community and in all legal service organizations.

As a result, ALA launched the ALA Diversity Initiative - designed to increase awareness of and sensitivity to the differences among our workforce and to advance the concepts of inclusiveness and acceptance. To meet these goals ALA has created leadership panels, educational venues and programs.

Our New York City community, deemed the nation's "Melting Pot," originated and now thrives because of the cultural richness and diversity of our city's population, estimated to be 8.3 million individuals*.

The New York City Chapter is also committed to Leading the Way with Diversity Initiatives – through leadership, education, advancement and development.

As administrators, daily we are challenged to skillfully manage the diversity within our firms, created by several generations in the work environment, cultural differentiators, multiple office locations, and the relatively horizontal hierarchy of law firms, to name a few.   We are charged with the important role of being firm Ambassadors, uniting individuals to recognize the valuable benefits teaming and partnerships can achieve while simultaneously cultivating the diverse talents of each One.

"To be one, to be united is a great thing.
But to respect the right to be different is maybe even greater."

~ Bono, humanitarian & lead singer for U2
